Bodmin Jail Ghost Hunt With Haunting Nights

Step into the darkness at one of the UK’s most terrifying locations. Built in 1779 on the edge of the desolate Cornish moors, Bodmin Jail holds a grim and brutal history that has left an indelible paranormal scar. Haunting Nights invites you to spend the night locked inside this formidable fortress for an intense, hands-on ghost hunt you will never forget.

With 55 executions taking place within its walls and thousands of inmates enduring squalid, unforgiving conditions, Bodmin Jail is a hotspot for poltergeist activity, disembodied voices, and chilling full-bodied apparitions.

A Dark History: The Ghosts of Bodmin Jail

Bodmin Jail was the first British prison to house inmates in individual cells, but isolation only deepened the despair of those trapped inside. The prison housed murderers, debtors, and the criminally insane, many of whom never left.

During your ghost hunt, you will investigate the most active areas of the jail, each with its own sinister reputation:

  • The Execution Pit: The site of the jail’s notorious hanging shed. The heavy atmosphere here is often accompanied by sudden temperature drops and the overwhelming feeling of being watched.
  • The Naval Wing: Known for violent poltergeist activity and heavy, dragging footsteps echoing through the empty corridors.
  • The Women’s Wing: Haunted by the sorrowful spirit of Selina Wadge, a mother hanged in 1878 for the murder of her child. Visitors frequently report hearing a woman weeping and experiencing sudden feelings of intense grief.
  • The Dark Cells: Pitch-black and claustrophobic, these lower-level cells are where investigators capture the most compelling Electronic Voice Phenomena (EVP) and spirit box responses.

What to Expect on Your Paranormal Investigation

This is a fully interactive ghost hunt. Whether you are a seasoned paranormal investigator or a first-time ghost hunter, the Haunting Nights team will guide you through authentic investigation techniques.

You will have access to state-of-the-art ghost hunting equipment and traditional spiritual methods to make contact with the other side. Your night will include:

  • Group Vigils & Séances: Conducted in the most haunted wings of the jail.
  • Victorian Spiritualism: Take part in table tipping, glass divination, and Ouija boards.
  • Modern Tech: Use EMF meters, K2 meters, REM pods, and spirit boxes to capture real-time evidence.
  • Lone Vigils: For the bravest guests, a chance to sit entirely alone in the darkness of a cell.
  • Free Time: Time allocated at the during the night to explore and investigate your favourite areas of the jail independently.
